Léo Tardin had a huge influence on the career of Claude Diallo. When Claude visited the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2000 he couldn't believe that a fellow Swiss jazz pianist was opening for Diana Krall. He called Léo Tardin in Geneva and found out that Léo went to study in New York and won the Montreux Jazz Festival Bösendorfer Solo Piano Competition and as a reward he was allowed to open for Diana Krall. Influenced by these achievements Claude Diallo also went to study in the USA and was a finalist of the Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition in 2009 where no one other than Léo Tardin happened to be in the jury. Small world? In 2021 Claude invited Léo Tardin to be part of a live stream concert where they performed four hands on two pianos for the very first time. Today the two pianists are still good friends and share mutual respect and admiration for each other's projects.
Léo Tardin hatte einen grossen Einfluss auf den musikalischen Werdegang von Claude Diallo. Als Claude im Jahr 2000 das Montreux Jazz Festival besuchte, konnte er kaum glauben, dass ein Schweizer Jazzpianist als Vorprogramm für Diana Krall auftrat. Er rief Léo Tardin in Genf an und erfuhr, dass er zum Studium nach New York gegangen war und den Bösendorfer Solo Piano Competition des Montreux Jazz Festivals gewonnen hatte. Als Preis durfte Léo Tardin anschliessend das Konzert von Diana Krall eröffnen. Von diesem Erfolg inspiriert, entschied sich auch Claude Diallo für ein Studium in den USA. 2009 wurde er selbst Finalist des Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition – und ausgerechnet Léo Tardin sass in der Jury. Eine kleine Welt? Im Jahr 2021 lud Claude Léo Tardin zu einem Livestream-Konzert ein, bei dem die beiden erstmals vierhändig an zwei Klavieren musizierten. Bis heute verbindet die beiden Pianisten eine enge Freundschaft sowie gegenseitigen Respekt und grosse Wertschätzung für ihre jeweiligen musikalischen Projekte.
