Diallo / Vanbuel duo is a cooperative duo with internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Claude Diallo from Switzerland and the native Martijn Vanbuel on bass. This duo is based on friendships that last over a decade.
Martijn Vanbuel and Claude Diallo met for the first time in Taipei, Taiwan, where Vanbuel used to live for many years before returning to Belgium. In 2007 Diallo made his first trip to Taiwan and between 2007 and 2012 the two musicians often played together in Taiwan.
During the pandemic Diallo had a special project in which he reunited old friends to come together and play. In November 2021 this duo had its start in St. Gallen, Switzerland and now will be performing in Belgium for the first time. The music varies from traditional Jazz arrangements from the Hard-Bop area to original compositions of Vanbuel and Diallo. It’s sound is very fresh but at the same time authentic. There is no leader and the music being played is the focus of the duo. The listener awaits a virtuoso live performance of internationally acclaimed musicians at the peak of their careers. Definitely a highlight not to be missed.
